Many social workers and therapists are promoted into supervisory positions because they consistently perform at an excellent level within their current roles. However, if they have not been trained to manage others, they may find this opportunity takes them outside of their strengths.
This workshop will draw connections between strong clinical skills – such as empathy, clear communication, problem-solving, and being an accountability partner - and the characteristics of a high-quality supervisor. Several scenarios will be presented suggesting options for how effective employment and licensure supervision can be conducted. We will discuss the importance of self-care for supervisors and of seeking ongoing learning. Considerations for managing supervisory relationships remotely will be considered.
This workshop meets the Missouri requirement that LCSW supervisors receive 3 hours of continuing education in supervision per licensure period.
General Admission: $60**
Class size is limited to 45.
